Greenfield ChautauquaThe first Greenfield Chautauqua was held in 1906. The Chautauqua circuit provided a varied form of education and entertainment. Lectures dealt with current social, religious and enonomic issues; entertainment included concerts, orators, opera stars, preachers, statesmen and scientists. Williams Jennings Bryan and Dr. Frederick Cook, North Pole explorer, spoke here. During WWI, Company G camped and trained here briefly in July, 1917
